Joining Stratford-upon-Avon Choral Society
How and when to join
We welcome new singers in every part of the choir. Ideally you should have some experience of choral singing and be able to read music to some degree. (We have on-line learning aids to help.)
For the 2026-27 season, starting 1st September 2026:
Subscription: £140 (September to March). See below for concessions for Students and Under 25s.
Optional spring/summer term: From April to our concert in June - additional subscription to be announced nearer the date
Where we rehearse: St Andrew's Church, Church Lane, Shottery
When: Monday evenings, 7:30 to 9:15 pm
Singers should ideally join at the start of the rehearsals for one of our concerts. This is 7th September for our November concert, 16th November for our Christmas concert, 4th January for our March concert, or soon after Easter for our June concert.
New members are asked to attend an audition with our Music Director. If you have any concerns about the audition or your abilities, please speak with our membership secretary. No audition is needed to join for the more informal spring/summer term.
Once you are a member, you will need to pay a subscription and hire or buy music for the current concert. Subscriptions are due at the first rehearsal in September. You can rent the music (typically £2 per item) from our music librarian at the first practice or you can buy your own copy.
Concessionary rates for students and young people
You must be 16 or over to join the choir. We offer a reduced rate of subscription of £25 for those aged 25 and under, and free membership to full-time students 25 and under.
